Rod Palmer grew up on a small farm located north of Gadsden, Alabama. He was raised growing crops for himself and for his neighbors. Rod's oldest son, Caleb wanted to learn how to farm at the age of 15. His interest is what began what we know now as, Owls Hollow Farm. The farm has 18000 sqaure feet of greenhouses and field grown crops. Owls Hollow currently sells their hydroponic lettuces and organic products to a wide variety of consumers including: 20 high-end local restaurants, 2 Piggly Wiggly's in the Mountain Brook area, Whole Foods South-East Region, V. Richards, a Private Corporate Farmer's Market every Thursday, Regional Produce in Birmingham, as well as featuring their own personal C.S.A. Box for pick-up every Saturday in Pepper Place year-round.pest Management
For his greenhouses, Rod uses a mixture of 34 elements, micro nutrients and trace elements. These are the nutrients that plants take from soil... when they're in soil...For his crops outside, Rod uses chicken litter, worm castings and fish emulsion.
